Taja Lindley has been selected as a New York City Department of Cultural Affairs' Public Artist in Residence (PAIR) with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Over the next 12 months she will be working closely with the NYC Health Department’s Center for Health Equity and the Tremont Neighborhood Health Action Center to co-create a socially engaged project to address how racism and gender oppression affect birth outcomes in the Bronx. The news was announced in this New York Times article featuring Lindley and her work. Taja Lindley will be exhibiting her largest installation to date during her first solo exhibition at the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center in Austin Texas. Her installation "Re-Membering is the Responsibility of the Living" opens on Thursday March 7th, 2019 and closes Saturday July 27th, 2019. This installation will debut new artworks from the artist as well as feature some of Lindley's well known work, including This Ain't A Eulogy: A Ritual for Re-Membering. In conjunction with her installation, the Carver Museum and Fusebox Festival will present a two night run of her participatory performance ritual - The Bag Lady Manifesta in April 2019.
